Clue #4 - Makes me crave Orange Juice!!

Time for Monday Link Up Clue #4 -- so much fun!

Love - love - love these orange string bricks!!  Made for a reasonably fast clue to finish.  And that pop of blue - I call it my "scream" fabric of which this might be the last!   Found it on a clearance table eons ago.

We haven't even begun to put a dent in the oranges with these - so looking forward to more orange units!

Good Fortune Clue #3 Complete

My greens are on the bluish side because that's what I had & could find at a reasonable price.

By my calculations, this uses most of the greens called for but I might have made an error - will double check!

Good Fortune - Clue #2

OK it's time for Monday Link Up Clue #2! It's so much fun seeing everyone's colours and how they lay out their units!

My goal this year is accuracy so I tried a few ways with these HSTs to see what was most accurate for me. First of all, I starched my fabrics before cutting.

First, I tried my
free triangle foundations which are always gauranteed acurate. I like these because I can cut to the size of my scraps and sew together. I made about half of my HSTs this way.

I tried cutting triangles oversized and trimming with my folded corners ruler but that wasn't as accurate for me - have to line up the sewing line just do and that was a bit of a pain. I'll save the folded corners ruler for its intended use.

Then I tried 8 at a time and trimmed with my bloc loc HST ruler. Sweet these are so accurate too! I made the other half of my units by this method. They are add identically sized!

By my calculations, this uses less than a third of the blues called for so I'm pretty certain there will be more blue before we're done. I figure we've used @ 1/5 th of our neutrals by now. Just for fun, once we're a few clues in, I will post how many pieces the quilt has as I'm sensing that this one will be lots of small pieces.

Good Fortune - Clue #1 finished!!

It's fun to see everyone's progress - to see lots head over to Quiltville Good Fortune Clue#1 Link Up

By my calculations, this uses less than half the reds called for so I'm guessing there will be more red before we're done. We've only used less than 15% of our neutrals. Just for fun, once we're a few clues in, I will post how many pieces the quilt has as I'm sensing that this one will be lots of small pieces.

Good Fortune - Bonnie Hunter Mystery - Fabrics

Are you making Bonnie Hunter's new mystery quilt? It's called Good Fortune - what a great name. I just L-O-V-E the colours she has chosen this year.

I'm generally not a mystery quilt person but I made her On Ringo Lake last year in half-size and really enjoyed it. (One of my DDs fell in love with it so it's found a good home.

I plan to blog about my experience this year for the first time -- we'll see how it goes.

Now to choose the fabrics.

The paint chips:

Bonnie's fabrics:

Amazingly(!), I just bought these four last week - I'll think they will be where I begin.

Over on the Quiltville FB page, a very kind reader posted DMC floss colours that closely match the paint chips! Hurrah!
